Dual station for Ingenio and Paz
2010 June 23
INSA, Ingeniería y Servicios Aeroespaciales S.A. will be responsible for the engineering, design, installation and commissioning of the main ground station for the Paz and Ingenio satellites, under INTA contract.
This station, which will be in charge of the telemetry, tracking and control (TTC), and data reception, will be located at Torrejón de Ardoz, in the headquarters of INTA, and will consist of an antenna of 11 meters and its different communication subsystems. Among its capacities there will be the dual reception, both in S band for TTC communications and X band for reception of the data from the satellites.
The funds for the construction of both satellites, integrated into the National Plan for Satellite Earth Observation, have been invested by the Ministries of Defense and Industry. After their commissioning, these satellites will make Spain to be the first EU country with an observation dual system (optical and radar) with double usage (civil and military).
