INSA participates in ENISE 2010 as responsible for Ministry of Justice’s EJIS project
2010 October 22

INSA, Ingeniería y Servicios Aeroespaciales, S.A., participates in the International Meeting for the Security of the Information, organized by the National Institute for Communication Technologies (INTECO), the 26, 27 and 28 October 2010.
INSA is involved in ENISE due to its participation in EJIS (Judicial Scheme for Security and Interoperability), one of the most important projects of the Ministry of Justice that is included in the Strategic Plan for the Modernization of the Justice System, approved by the Cabinet the 18 September 2009.
EJIS intention is to optimize the use of information and communication technologies (ITC) in the administrative and judicial activity and will allow networking between every judicial unit, permitting them to share information about specific people or processes in real time.
With the EJIS action program different informatic systems, used by different judicial entities (or justice collaborators), will be able to interoperate in a secure way. The scope is not to unify systems, but to define a new architecture for technology and information, agreed by the different participating institutions, in such a way that those systems will be capable of real-time data interchange to share the necessary information to speed up the judicial affairs, reduce errors and improve the decisions’ quality.
This set of agreed norms constitutes the Judicial Scheme for Security and Interoperability. The Scheme boosts the development and the economic efficiency of the interoperability projects, thanks to the reduction of development costs due to the homogenization of technological solutions and judicial codifications and to the reutilization of previously created components.
According to the words of the Minister of Justice, “EJIS purpose is to create an efficient platform for judicial information interchange that will be decisive to perform a predictable, effective and quality public service. Thanks to EJIS, all Spanish justice units will be able to share synchronized and updated information in real time. It will also allow this information to be moved in a simple, automatic and secure way. In addition, it will provide an easy way for sharing available information with other public entities” (F. Caamaño, 2009).
INSA acts as coordinator and consultant of all projects developed to enable interoperability between systems in charge of sustaining the Justice administration and also as expert resource centre for information security and for technological and semantic-legal affairs.
EJIS Program Office collaborates, at national level, in the frame of the Agreement signed by the General Council of the Judiciary, the National Prosecution Service, the eleven Autonomous Communities with transferred powers in justice administration and the above-mentioned Ministry.
