Meeting of the space frequency coordination group in Maspalomas

2007 August 2

Logo SFCGINTA and INSA hosted the 27th annual meeting of the SFCG (Space Frecuency Coordination Group) in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) from 19th to 27th September 2007.

The SFCG was established in 1979 as a forum to discuss and coordinate common areas of interest related to the frequencies used by space agencies. These meetings laid down guidelines for future uses of the radio frequency bands and coordinate and resolve compatibility problems between its members. INSA and INTA joined the SFCG in 1988, whose other members include the main national and international space agencies: ESA, Eumetsat, CNES, DLR, BNSC, NASA, NOAA, ISRO, ASI, JAXA, KOR, MLA, NAA, RFSA, SSC, NSPO, UKR, CONAE, CSRIO, ASA, INPE, CSA, CMA, etc.

The SFCG's members represent their agencies, rather than different countries. When the meetings of the International Telecommunications Union are held, they form part of the official delegation which attends them.

INSA is also responsible for managing the assignment of frequencies in Spain to the satellite relay stations for the NASA, ESA, JAXA, etc. space agencies.
