Satellite communication in motion for the Armed Forces
2009 June 2
INSA developed, integrated and supplied in co-operation with the company XSAT equipment allowing broadband communication via satellite in moving vehicles (Satcom On-The-Move, SOTM). These systems use the X-band for government communication and are adapted to the configuration of various users with a reduced impact with respect to volume and weight.
INSA has supplied systems for tactical terrestrial vehicles to EMACOM providing safe voice and data communication to a column in motion; another solution in operation with a singular complexity of integration has been the installation in amphibious vehicles; and lastly, a naval system was installed aboard the Armada of an allied country. There is also a solution, which has shown to be successful for the Guardia Civil patrols allowing the transmission of images, voice and data in real time from a vessel to a centralised control point.
The SOTM systems of INSA unite the necessary characteristics of adaptable integration, performance, trustworthiness and cost to contribute to a more ample and better use of the spatial systems to the extent that they adapt to the special requirements of every user.
