Maspalomas station is property of INTA. The CEC cooperates with several organizations and space agencies in a lot of missions. Among these organizations, we find ESA/ESRIN, JAXA, ESA/ESOC, EUMETSAT, HISPASAT and HISDESAT.

Maspalomas station is located in the southern part of Gran Canary Island (Spain). The Space Station is operated by INTA in cooperation with INSA. 

This centre is specialized in satellite control and tracking, being part of ESA’s network of stations devoted to support launches.

Projects at the CEC:

  • Observation and study of Earth resources (ERS-1/2, LANDSAT, SPOT, NOAA, AQUA, TERRA...).
  • Geostationary satellites for meteorology and telecommunications (HISPASAT, METEOSAT, XTAR...) and scientific missions (CLUSTER, SMART, ISS,...).
  • The station collaborates with CREPAD (Centre for Acquisition, Processing, Archiving and Dissemination of Earth Observation Data), which is located at the CEC.
  • National Control Centre for the  COSPAS-SARSAT  search and rescue mission. This activity, advocated by the Parliament, has saved hundreds of human lives over the last years.
