Code of Ethics
This Code of Ethics is a reflection of the corporate values and principles which govern the conduct of everyone who works for this company.
It should be seen as the foundation for the sensitive procedures and ways of working that determine relations with employees, clients, suppliers and society in general.
The aim is to highlight the key values which underpin the company's activities and establish standards to guide the conduct of the company and its professional staff, in order to guarantee ethical and responsible behaviour beyond the fulfilment of basic legal obligations. These values can be summarised as follows:
- Respect for human rights and law.
- A firm commitment to protecting the environment.
- Diversity and sustainable development in society.
- Progress and technological innovation.
- A constant quest for maximum quality in the services provided.
The purpose of the Code is to make INSA professionals aware of the values and general principles which inspire the orientation and wholehearted development of all the professional areas and businesses of the company and, consequently, the activities in the workplace.
The Code of Ethics is, thus, an organisational instrument for regulating, in a general and binding way, the behaviour of professionals, inside and outside the company. It also aims to serve as a standard for decision-making in situations affecting any of the values we uphold.
INSA carries out all its activities with respect for basic human rights and human dignity in all their manifestations, and expressly declares its compliance with the 10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, which, briefly, are as follows:
Human Rights
Principles 1 & 2. Support for the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights. Ensuring we do not contribute to their contravention.
Labour Standards
Principles 3, 4, 5 & 6. Support for freedom of association and effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining. Elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour. Eradication of child labour. Abolition of discriminatory practices in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
Principles 7, 8 & 9. Maintaining a precautionary approach to environmental protection. Undertaking initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility. Development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
Principle 10. To work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
These Principles, alongside INSA's basic corporate principles, such as those of Responsibility, Loyalty, Integrity and Efficiency, comprise the ethical standards relating to the company's activities.
Everyone who forms part of INSA must act in accordance with these Principles, which are contained in our commitments, as follows:
- Respect for the dignity and integrity of people, ensuring a working environment that respects dignity and personal freedom.
A policy shall be operated to prevent, in the context of working relationships, any harassment, the aim or consequence of which is to attack the dignity of a person, thereby creating a hostile, humiliating or offensive workplace environment. - Defending workplace rights.
INSA is convinced that real dialogue allows better internal cooperation, and the company respects the rights of union affiliation, freedom of association, the right to strike and collective bargaining, and shall not use any coercive measure to prevent or obstruct the exercise of these rights. - Training and health & safety of INSA employees.
Providing relevant training of employees in the framework of the development of their personal and professional expectations is considered to be an essential element in guaranteeing the future of the company, improving competitiveness and client service.
Health and safety in the workplace is a challenge for the company and is the constant concern of everybody incorporated in the organisation. INSA complies with its legal obligations in the area of Prevention of Risk at Work and Health and Safety at Work. Specific training in this area is part of the company's ongoing prevention policy. - Non-discrimination and equal opportunities.
Both these principles guide the conduct of INSA professionals, particularly managers, in respect of employment and other areas of company activity.
Discrimination, purportedly founded upon motives related to gender, ethnic origin, religion, beliefs or any other personal or social conditions and circumstances, will not be tolerated.
Promotion of employees will be based upon requirements of a technical nature, on training and competence, necessary for the professional positions concerned. - Respect for law, ethical values and rejection of corruption.
In the interests of civic responsibility, and as a premise for professional and commercial activities, INSA considers the observation of, and compliance with, the law to be an absolute duty.
INSA employees must never attempt to influence the will of people outside the company in order to obtain any reward through the use of non-ethical practices; and, in the same way, INSA through its employees will prevent any other persons or organisations using these practices.
During the performance of their functions, all INSA personnel shall prioritise the interests of the company above personal or third party concerns. - Providing our services with the best possible quality and safety.
The raison d'être of INSA is none other than the satisfaction of our clients. Relations with all of them shall be governed by our insistence on the highest standards of quality, care and dedication.
Such standards shall also apply to central government requirements and thus Spanish society as a whole. We have a duty of loyalty, performance and efficiency, permitting the fulfilment of the tasks for which we were created.
Professional discipline in INSA is closely linked to the vocation of service, in the performance of the company's activities and involvement in various projects in which INSA collaborates. All the tasks entrusted to us shall be supervised with professional responsibility and a commitment to quality.
The fulfilment of these obligations is ensured through INSA's certification according to the ISO 9001:2000 standard for the engineering projects. - Development and technological innovation.
To ensure that this dedication to quality is effective, it is essential, in a company with our characteristics and business expectations, to have a strong commitment to research and technological and scientific innovation.
Success depends as much upon the capacity of the employees to comply with these ethical principles as on their ability to adapt, promote and develop new technologies, as contemporary Spanish society requires. - Commitment to the environment and sustainable development.
Responding to an increasing demand from society, INSA is committed to the protection of the environment as a common good and directs its activity towards solutions which, as well as respecting the legislation in force, make economic criteria compatible with environmental necessities, providing due care and attention to results of scientific research and experience gained in this area.
We must remember that environmental technology and research open new and greater possibilities for development not only of society, but also of a company like ours.
Commitment to the environment is ensured through INSA's certification in accordance with the ISO 14000 standard for our own work centers.
Finally, it should be emphasised that INSA maintains a clear social commitment based on the conviction that competitiveness must go hand in hand with ethical sensitivity, social conscience, research, and respect for the environment.
In such a context, this document represents a long-term commitment upon which the ethical pillars of the company's strategy and business objectives are based.
